Father Mircea Basarab – Evocation
This text is an evocation of Father Professor Mircea Basarab, who died in
2020. Father Mircea Basarab was one of the most significant exponents of the
Romanian diaspora in Germany. His theological and cultural training generated
an energetic activity within the confessional or interdenominational dialogue.
His academic merits were valued at the Institute of Orthodox Theology of Ludwig
Maximilian University in Munich, where his father was an associate professor
for the Old Testament department. Father Mircea Basarab carried out a prolific
scientific activity, publishing several specialized volumes in which he
approached biblical topics (especially elements of hermeneutics), issues
concerning the Romanian diaspora and various dialogue structures.
