Ioan Lupas and the memory of the university life in Cluj. Notes on Professor Grigore Silaşi
The paper analyzes a small part of the activity of Ioan Lupaș, professor of Transylvanian history at the Romanian University of Cluj and member of the Romanian Academy, as “public intellectual”. More specifically, the author investigated how Lupaş celebrated and evoked, when the occasion occurred, figures of Romanian intellectuals from the university environment. Through the researches he dedicated to Grigore Silaşi, the first professor of Romanian language and literature in Transylvania, Ioan Lupaş added an important chapter to the knowledge of Cluj University and environment, to the preservation and perpetuation of the local academic memory.
