The Image of the prison guard in the Romanian concentration camps
In the context of the commemorative year of the Patriarch Justinian and of the defenders of Orthodoxy during communism, much has been written and spoken about repression and its victims. An important component of the Romanian communist system of concentration camps was the prison guard. The guards were those who directly put the victims of the regime to a centralized and sustained system of physical and moral destruction and elimination. Our work aims to present some of the features of the guards and the torturers, based on the testimonies of those who have survived this extermination regime.
