From the (Recent) History of the Church Life in Bessarabia
The present article analyzes some aspects related to the recent history of the Orthodox Church in Bessarabia. On this land with canonical dispute there are two ecclesial units that justify their title - “Orthodox Church of Moldavia” and “Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia”. One is jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Moscow, the other one of the Romanian Patriarchate, both with primates and suffragan hierarchs. Orthodoxy in Bessarabia bears the marks of the convulsions generated by the overlapping of the two jurisdictions.
