A charismatic patriarch for atypical times
On July 22, 2020, His Beatitude the Patriarch Daniel turns 69 years old. This article is a brief evocation of the life and work of Patriarch Daniel. In these difficult times, he erected the “foundation for eternity”, the National Cathedral. In fact, the personality of His Beatitude is commensurate with this foundation. Despite his openness to the world, to European values and ecumenism, our Patriarch remains rooted in the Tradition of his predecessors. He believes and confesses, the same as our ancestors believed and confessed. In the struggle with the challenges of secularizing and materialistic contemporaneity, he is the flag bearer of the preservation of Orthodox tradition and national values. No major problem of the contemporary world was disregarded by Patriarch Daniel. Therefore, on the initiative of His Beatitude, each liturgical year is dedicated to an issue that concerns our society.
