Andreea-Mihaela Badea, A letter from Virgil Cândea to Nicolae Steinhardt in the Central University Library “Carol I”

The article presents a letter dated August 1, 1987, that the late academician Virgil Cândea (1927-2007) sent to Nicolae Steinhardt (1912-1989). It is part of a group of dozens of letters received by Nicolae Steinhardt from intellectuals of different generations, from the elders Alexandru Paleologu, Alexandru Ciorănescu, Constantin Noica and Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeală, as well as the younger Bedros Horasangian, Ioan Pintea and Ştefan Foarţă. These letters illustrate, along with the authors’ consideration and respect for Nicolae Steinhardt, their rich intellectual life, with concerns and questions that couldn’t always find their place in the journalism of those times.
