The place and importance of monasticism in the ecclesial community and its contribution to the Church’s mission in the world
The work of monasticism identifies itself with that of the Church of Christ in the world: salvation and holiness, which is why monasticism contributes to intensifying, strengthening and building up the entire ecclesial body to the glory of God (Eph. 4:12). Moreover, today when we see all the moments of spiritual disorientation, Romanian monasticism reminds us, with the voice of tradition and history, that the only true good thing that ennobles us, is life Christ, lived with the purpose of acquiring God’s kingdom. Today, the monastery has the role and mission to bring to the modern world the message of the gospel, alive and edifying, and to offer Christ the Son of God to this world as the Lord of life and the Word made flesh that contains all the answers that are essential for the modern man and the modern world of our century and of all times. These three missionary works of the Romanian monasticism remain the priority: a) prayer; b) work united to prayer and to hospitality and c) promoting the bond between cult and culture.
