Ioan Alexandru and the Homeland in „Hymns of Transylvania” This article involves a poetical-theological approach of the idea of homeland
in Ioan Alexandru’s „Hymns of Transylvania”. I subdivided this research into
four mystic discourses on the homeland concept: the first regarding the symbol
of unity in spirit, moving furthermore the religious legacy of his ancestors;
the second deals with the homeland as an icon of a kind mother that takes pride
in her children; the third envisage our homeland as the source of immortality,
a sacred space beyond the sun, where love lives forever; and finally the last
image depicts the eucharistic dimension of our homeland. Hymnographic poetry of
Ioan Alexandru is the homeland of our soul immortality. CĂTĂLIN VARGA |
