„Sacrifice and Redemption” in the historical novel The Sacrifice by Mihail
Diaconescu The chronicle „Sacrifice and Redemption” in the historical novel The
Sacrifice by Mihail Diaconescu, is largely a „radiography” of the Austro-
Hungarian absolutism (1867-1918), the suffering of the Transylvanian Romanians
in their struggle for freedom, national and social rights; at the same time,
the author presents Romanian life in all the ancient provinces, and, as a
result of many sacrifices, especially during the First World War, the Union of
Bessarabia with Romania (March 28, 1918), of Bukovina and Romania 1918) and of
Transylvania with Romania (1 December 1918), all of them forming the Great
Romania. ALEXANDRU MORARU |
