Interwar Scenes (V) The article evoques several scenes and characters from the interwar period: Elena Lupescu, a
wordly character for whom not only bankers or native industrialists throw parties, but also
foreign diplomats, Ana Pauker, a communist dissident, sentenced to prison in 1936, Nicolae
Titulescu, an international political star, the celebration of the Restoration Day on June 8,
various events, many of them from the front page of newspapers, that took place in 1936, the
publishing activity of some daily newspapers and so on. All of them are a glimpse of Romanian
