Saint Sebaldus, patron and protector of the city of Nürnberg
Celebrated every year on August 19, St. Sebaldus is considered today, along with St. Lawrence
of Rome and Deocar, the holy patron and protector of the city of Nürnberg. He lived as a hermit
on the territory of today’s Nürnberg and was noted for his asceticism and for the miracles he
performed. His relics are today kept in one of the most beautiful Christian reliquary in the
Evangelical church in Nürnberg, James after him.
