The poet Andrei Muresanu’s birth bicentenary (1816-2016)
This text is occasioned by the 200th anniversary of the birth of Andrei Muresanu, poet of the „Na- tional Anthem”. Over time his poetry attracted either extreme opinions, which ranged from enthu- siastic feedback to fierce denials or objective critical judgments, with the fair value assessment of the poet. Of course, Andrei Muresanu’s merits are not so much literary as social and polical. He was not so much a strong factor in the cultural development of the Romanians from Transylvania, as he was was one of the most energetic tribunes of Romanians in the revolutionary Transylvania in 1848.
