The Church of the nation and the unity of the Romanian language
The text is the speech given by the bishop upon his acceptance into the Romanian Academy, in a solemn public session of the Academy, May 28, 1945, in the presence of King Mihai I. He was on the seat left vacant by the death of Nicolae Titulescu. The first part of this speech evoked Minister Nicolae Titulescu and the second part refers to Romanian language and to the Church’s role in establishing the unity of the language. Language is the limpid mirror and soul of a nation, of the fundamental features that define its nature and character; it is the open book of his good and bad habits. Religious literature played a major role in shaping the Romanian language unity.
