Petru Movilă – the storyteller
Petru Movilă represents one of the most illustrious theologian scholar figures of the seventeenth century, ideologist of Orthodoxy and a competent organizer of oriental Eastern Christian churches. In the religious context of his epoch, Petru Movilă diligently worked to strengthen the Orthodox doctrine and the theological system, setting up schools and printing many fundamental books in the Kievan typography. His obvious literary talent is shown in the work “Reconciliation of the Orthodox Church” (Polirom, Iaşi, 2002). This is about Stories of Wonders and Parables That Happened in the Orthodox Church. Such events are gathered in a confessional book resembling a chronicle, with the literary quality of the chronicles of the time.
