The life of a man as it was
The article is a chronicle of Metropolitan Bartolomeu Valeriu Anania’s Journals in two volumes, published by the literary critic Aurel Sasu. It is a series of diary notebooks, with short and almost telegraphic notes, which the man of culture had during the most eventful time of his life, namely 1965-1995. There are workbooks, in which the great hierarch noted in a hurry, among many other occupations and problems of the day, facts and events he lived during that time, names of the people he met, happenings and events he had to do deal with, challenges of the day. The result was a telegraphic text like an aide-memoire, with a composite structure like a mosaic, from which emerged the tumult and the pulsation of a life connected first and foremost to the church duties, then to his “literary work” and to his numerous encounters with friends, to the invitations he received, to the editorial duties, or those from the Union of Writers.
