Current Paradigms in N. Steinhardt’s critical research

Adrian Mureşan, Current Paradigms in N. Steinhardt’s critical research
Our study suggests a critical reassessment of the place occupied by N. Steinhardt’s work and thinking in the Romanian culture, focusing mostly on reception aspects of the multidimensionality of the writer’s personality in the last 25 years after the fall of communism. Entirely recovered, Steinhardt’s discourse can always be revisited due to the publication of his work in the author collection that Polirom hosted in collaboration with Rohia monastery. A decisive turning point in his post-December reception Steinhardt was the monograph of George Ardeleanu, which opens new paradigms in N. Steinhardt’s critical research: Jewishness and the interwar texts, the relationship between cultural subversion and aesthetic concept, his focus on essays and consideration of Western models as subversive paradigms, his connection with Christian existentialism etc.

Keywords: cultural subversion, existentialism, cultural models, literary critics, communism
