This aarticle represents un excurse through the church art of the last years, highlighting several romanian icon painters: Grigore Popescu, Elena Murariu, Gabriel Toma Chituc, Ioan Popa, Mihai Coman, diaconul Nicolae Bălan, Răzvan Gâscă, Marius Ghinescu, Daniela Toma, Fr. Ilie (hermitage of Slănic, Argeş), Fr. Haralambie (Vatopedi, Mount Athos), Fr. Iacob (hermitage of St. Tihon, Mount Athos). All of the new generation of iconographers have thorough studies of art, are deeply engaged in spiritual search and in the life of the Church, cherish freedom of expression and know how to protect their status.
