Emil Murakade, Syrian young man arrived in Bucharest in 1933 for theological studies, is present in Virgil Cândea’s archive through letters and documents regarding his life and literary work. The present contribution is an account of Murakade’s stay for 13 years on Romanian soil before returning to Damascus, where he was ordained priest and became a passionate ambassador of cultural and spiritual Romania. Also presented here are his translations of poetry in and from Arabic, his collaboration with the poet Radu Gyr, his contributions to the magazine “Gândirea” and his meetings with Virgil Cândea in Damascus.
