The stalinist project of enslaving the church

The text refers to an interview of Ogoniok Magazine (September 16, 2013) with theologian and Professor David Gzgzdian, where the central idea is about the "stalinist project of enslaving the church." The Georgian Professor considers the lack of "catholicity" of the (Russian) Church as one of the sequels of the "ecclesiastical Stalinism". In a certain period of his rule, Stalin adopted a benevolent attitude towards the Church, and even resorted to its "help" in his national and international political projects. The reasons for this attitude are still analyzed by historians.
Keywords: Stalin, the Russian Church, enslavement, Pan-Orthodox Conference, communism
