This article presents some travel notes with references to local cultural specificity of the romanian territory bordering the Black Sea and analogies on mediterranean particularities. Old byzantine elements are highlighted as a cultural constant in the mediterranean surroundings and its areas of influence. Generally, Constanţa and Dobrogea still observe many greek and oriental influences, visible in the local architecture and culture.
