Healing passions in the light of the Theological and ethical treatises of St. Symeon the New Theologian

The present work shows the way in which the complex process of healing of intemperances is described by St Symeon the New Theologian, as well as the importance of this healing and the reward that motivates the process. The current work presents and emphasises the purpose of sincere repentance, whose fruit are often the tears, of humility, their importance and the necessity of ascetism and leading a virtuous life. In addition, the superiority of the information provided by the Saint is emphasised because, in comparison to many other writers of his time, he always transmits experienced teachings and not those inspired from other people`s writings or stories. In order to stimulate his readers, the Saint shows them the imperishable goods from which the ones who live a life according to God`s will can benefit, which is another innovative part of his work.
